Questions and answers
About buying and selling in Turkey
Yes. Foreign nationals can buy property in Turkey, including in Alanya. There are some restrictions relating to military zones, and we always verify that the specific property is cleared before you commit.
That the building has an occupancy permit (iskan), that there is no debt secured on the unit, that the seller genuinely has the right to sell, and that the price declared to the authorities matches the actual purchase price. We carry out all of these checks before you pay anything.
Tapu is the official title deed in Turkey and shows who owns the property. It is only once the tapu is transferred to you that you formally own the apartment. We stay with you until that is done.
Prices are often quoted in euro for international buyers, but the actual settlement usually takes place in Turkish lira at the prevailing rate. We explain how this is handled in your case, and what to watch for with the exchange rate.
